It is difficult to build a subdivision in the United States but much harder in Panama. Buying the land is easy, dealing with the rules and regulations , all written in Spanish are much harder. I had an assistant once that said with her hands on her hips, you Americans, you think you can come down here and buy land, build roads, put in electricity and water and sell lots, well we can't so why should you, only the rich with good connections can do that! Maybe I should have listened to her, but now only 17 years since I began I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel, after building the water system twice and taking down part of the electrical system to appease a powerful man from the neighborhood that kept us from getting power, we are now putting in the same lines and peices if steel we removed years ago and preparing to pave the remaining section of road so if we can sell lots we can transfer title and luckily we are seeing people from Panama City looking for a country home and they like underground utilities and beautiful views.
